I agree, they got very good returns for all those players.

Instead, they traded them for a pretty damn decent return. |

Big buff was the flue to their top line in the playoffs and versteeg was very good on the 2nd line. Yes they got good returns but they lost a lot from their team right now. You need depth to win. Ask Tampa, Ottawa, Anaheim etc.

Ottawa?
How does Ottawa have depth? |

I think that was his point.

But both of the other teams have won cups in the past 5/6 years. Anaheim just recently.

Players like Versteeg and Fatso might help you go far in the playoffs but players like Sharp are more important getting there.
My guess is that CHI are resigned (not re-signed) to not being a contender again for a few years. Thus they traded Kris and Lard-Arse and stay competitive if not threatening. |

Tampa has depth up front, too bad their defense and goaltending is terrible.

They had a top goalie at the time in khabibulin and a top defenseman in boyle leading the back end. Theyhavenr replaced either. |

Ok, so we can all be sure that Niemi will be a free agent in a couple days.

TSN reported that Chi offered Turco a contract, appears like Niemi will indeed be a free agent.

In my opinion, Niemi wasn't an integral part of Chicago winning a Stanley Cup. The two finalists this year built strong teams in front of their goaltenders. It has been discussed at length in the hockey world that the day of the $6 M goalie is dwindling and that teams may look to a reliable puck stopper as opposed to a game changer.
I think you can substitute Niemi with a few other guys and Chicago would have still gotten the job done. |

. Dude, when offered Sharp, one does not demand impossible things. You just say yes. Quote:
